Why people call

How can we help you?

Understanding your policy

Insurance jargon on your statement? We translate what you own, what it covers and what it's doing.

Billing and payments

A draft that stopped after a bank change, a charge you don't recognize, or an older policy you're not sure is still paid.

Beneficiary changes

Adding a spouse or child, removing a former spouse, or naming a backup so the money goes where you intend.

Finding a lost policy

A parent once mentioned a policy and you need to know if it still exists and what it may be worth.

Cash value and loans

How much has built up, what borrowing against it really costs, and getting a value statement for benefit applications.

Price increases

A term policy leaving its level period, or a permanent policy that suddenly needs more to stay in force.

Coverage that no longer fits

Premiums that got too expensive, or coverage that needs resizing as your family and finances change.

Starting a claim

A loved one passed and you don't know where to begin. We'll explain the steps and what your insurer will ask for.

Reach a licensed agent Monday to Friday, 9am to 9pm ET.

  2. 2

    Go through your policy together

What it covers, what it costs, what the cash value is doing and whether your beneficiaries are current.

  3. 3

Hear your options in plain English

Keep it, adjust it or compare alternatives. No cost and no obligation either way.

Before you call

What to have ready

  • Your policy number, if you have it. A statement, the policy booklet or a bank record of the premium draft all help.
  • The insured person's full legal name and date of birth.
  • A recent statement or premium notice if your question is about cost or value.

Don't have any of these? Call anyway. We'll show you how to track the policy down.

Your policy, explained

Know what you're paying for.

Choose your policy type to see what to watch for.

Term life

Coverage for a set number of years at a price that stays level for that stretch.

What to watch for
  • The price can jump sharply once the level period ends.
  • The deadline to convert to permanent coverage often comes before the term ends.
  • There is no cash value, so nothing comes back if it ends.

Not sure which type you have? The plan name is on your policy data page, or call us and we'll read it with you.

What is your coverage really costing you?

See your price per $1,000 of coverage and how much you've paid in so far. Use the numbers from your policy or a recent statement.

Listed as "face amount" on your data page
On a statement or your bank draft
Count from the policy date
Per $1,000 of coverage
$4.08
each year
Paid so far
$6,120
in premiums
That works out to $1,020 a year for $250,000 of coverage.

Price alone doesn't tell the whole story. An agent can check riders, cash value and guarantees with you.

Before you let it go

Is your premium getting too expensive?

Dropping coverage can't be undone. If your health has changed since you bought it, a new policy may cost far more or not be available at all. Look at these options first.

Reduced paid-up coverage

Many permanent policies let you stop paying and keep a smaller death benefit for life.

Using cash value

A loan or withdrawal can sometimes cover premiums for a while without ending the policy.

Lowering the face amount

Less coverage means a lower premium, and the policy stays in force.

A 1035 exchange

Cash value can often move to a better-fitting policy or annuity without triggering current taxes.

Common questions

Questions about your policy and about us.

Are you my insurance company?

No. Policy Support is an independent help desk that connects you with a licensed insurance agent. Premium payments, claim filings and address changes go directly to your insurer, and their number is on your statement. We help you understand the policy and your options.

Do I need to have bought my policy from you?

No. We review policies from any insurance company, no matter who sold them to you.

Does it cost anything?

No. A policy review is free and there is no obligation to change anything.

How are you paid?

The call is free to you. If you choose to buy a new policy, the licensed agent who helps you is paid a commission by the insurance company. You never pay us directly.

Will you try to sell me something?

Sometimes a new policy is the better fit, and sometimes keeping what you have is. We show you both and you decide.

Why did my premium go up?

The most common reasons are a term policy reaching the end of its level period, rising cost of insurance in a universal life policy, or a missed payment. We can find which one applies to you.

How can I lower my premium without losing coverage?

Options can include lowering the face amount, switching to reduced paid-up coverage, or using dividends or cash value. It depends on your policy type.

How do I find out if an old policy is still active?

Check old statements and bank records for premium drafts, then contact the insurer. The NAIC also offers a free Life Insurance Policy Locator. We can help you through either route.
